PARTNERS

Children Today relies on a large community of valuable partners to meet our mission. The following is a list of government and nonprofit organizations, industry agencies and volunteer groups we are proud to call our partners.

Partners in Homeless Services

Long Beach Multi Service Center (MSC) for the Homeless
Located at 1301 W 12th Street, the MSC is a 15-agency collaborative operated by the Long Beach Department of Health and Human Services? The MSC is designed to provide one-stop access to
resources for individuals and families experiencing homelessness. Children Today’s Play House West is located at the MSC.

MSC’s collaborative partners include:

Villages at Cabrillo
The Villages at Cabrillo is a residential community supported by a collaboration of organizations dedicated to providing a wide range of services to break the cycle of homelessness, encourage self-sufficiency and promote achievement of the highest human potential for veterans, youth, families and individuals.

Services include transitional housing, residential treatment, medical support, job training, employment assistance and child care.

Referral Partners in Children’s Services

Bethune Transitional Center
The Bethune Transitional Center in Long Beach allows children experiencing homelessness to attend classes without any stigma or embarrassment. It minimizes the loss of education from homelessness, and helps students catch up with missed schoolwork. After a few weeks at the transitional center, most of the children enroll in classes at a regular school in the district.

Children Today partners with Bethune to place school age children their classrooms.

Children’s Institute, Inc.
Since 1906, Children’s Institute has served children and families whose lives have been touched by violence, abuse and other kinds of trauma. Children Today partners with Children’s Institute by utilizing their Wellness on Wheels program, in which every Tuesday a mobile mental health team provides on-site services all day at The Play House North. Children Today also refers families to utilize the Children’s Institute’s Project Stable Home, in which counseling professionals are able to visit the family’s home to provide counseling, assessments, and referrals for additional services.

Harbor Regional Center
The Harbor Regional Center is a private, not-for-profit corporation contracting with the State of California for the provision of services to persons with developmental disabilities pursuant to the Lanterman Act.

Geraldine A Stramski Children’s Development Center
The Stramski Center, located within Miller Children’s Hospital, provides comprehensive evaluation and coordination of care for children with a variety of special needs. When these needs are identified, Children Today partners with The Children’s Clinic to determine how to best address those needs by the Stramski Center.

The Children’s Clinic
For almost 70 years, The Children's Clinic, serving children and their families has been dedicated to providing comprehensive health care in a culturally sensitive and linguistically appropriate manner to medically underserved, low-income and high-risk populations in Long Beach and the South Bay.
