Early Care and Education
Parents with no jobs, no money and no place to call home face a terrible dilemma – how to care for their children while they get their lives back on track. As a community, Children Today strives to ensure the success of all children by providing a high quality, no-cost, developmentally appropriate curriculum for each child enrolled at the Play House West and Play House North.
Located in the Long Beach Multi-Service Center, our Play House West provides parents with a safe and nurturing place to leave their children while they rebuild their lives, accessing needed services such as housing and employment assistance, medical care, life skills training, transportation and more. The Play House West is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), one of only three programs nationwide serving children experiencing homelessness.
Our Play House North program, located at the intersection of Cherry Avenue and South Street in Long Beach, expands our capabilities to provide family services, child care and preschool programs in north Long Beach.
Both Play House programs include no-cost, licensed child care and preschool for children experiencing homelessness. First and foremost, we meet the children’s basic needs – providing them with safety and stability, nutritious meals and clothing.
More importantly, our Play House programs provide children with caring and nurturing relationships in an educational environment – a place where they can play, be creative, learn and grow in order to experience long-term success in their lives.
