Sandlarks Auxiliary to Children Today
Thanks to the Sandlark's amazing 2006 Mother's Day Diaper Campaign, over $4,000 dollars was raised to purchase diapers
and diaper related supplies for the children of The Play House. Combined with the 2005 Mother's Day Show Campaign, the Sandlarks will be able to provide a new pair of shoes and socks for every child entering The Play House,
as well as covering the diaper needs through next Mother's Day.
Since October 2002, the Sandlarks have added significant momentum to the expansion and development
of The Play House.
Throughout the year, Sandlarks initiate and assist with various supportive activities. Members participate in whichever events fit their schedules and give them the greatest satisfaction. Examples of these projects include:
Supporting Children Today Fundraising events
Putting on Parties for the Children at The Play House
Assisting with the annual Play HouseThanksgiving Feast
Preparing Lunches for The Play House to fill in for vacationing staff
Initiating Fundraising Projects, including diaper and shoe drives and rummage sales
Donation Sorting, Laundering and Storage for clothing, crafts, toys and other items donated by the community
Founded in 1951, Sandlarks members have been involved with a number of community nonprofits.
Previously, the Sandlarks have served as an auxiliary to both the Children's Home Society
and the Long Beach Day Nursery.
The Sandlarks are committed to making a positive difference in the lives of children in our community through service and fundraising activities while enjoying our tradition of support and friendship with a dynamic group of women.
