Helping the Most Innocent Victims of Homelessness
Parents with no jobs, no money and no place to call home face a terrible dilemma – how to care for their children while they get their lives back on track.
Located in the Long Beach Multi-Service Center,
our Play House West program provides homeless parents with a safe place to leave their children while they rebuild their lives, accessing needed services such as housing and employment assistance, medical care, life skills training, transportation and more.
Our Play House North program, located at the intersection of Cherry Avenue and South Street
in Long Beach, will expand our capabilities to
provide family services, childcare and preschool programs for homeless families in Long Beach.
Both Play House programs include no-cost, licensed childcare and preschool program for homeless children from six weeks to six years of age. First and foremost, we meet the basic needs of homeless children – providing them with safety and stability, nutritious meals, clothing and health care services.
More importantly, our Play House programs provide homeless children with a caring, nurturing and educational environment – a place where they can play, be creative, learn and grow.
Since the opening of our first Play House center, Play House West, in June 2000, Children Today has touched and improved the lives of countless children and
families experiencing homelessness in Long Beach. This is only possible through the generous support of our
donors.
