Since 1997, Children Today's high-quality, trauma-informed child development and support services have helped hundreds of children experiencing trauma to feel safe, secure, and ready to learn.  For many years, we offered our programs and services out of leased spaces that were not necessarily designed with the specific needs of our children and families in mind.  We made do, but it had long been the dream of board and staff members to have our own place that would allow us to offer a more safe, stable, and conducive environment to foster stability and success in children and families.

In 2013, thanks to the the extraordinary generosity, vision, and stewardship of retired board member, project leader, and anchor donor, Marsha Naify, we began to turn our dream into a reality when we purchased and and started rehabbing an empty school building on the corner of Long Beach and Spring. Opened in early 2016, EcoHouse is a gold LEED-certified, state-of-the-art preschool and daycare center that combines all our best practice services at a single site. The new facility is a welcoming, beautiful, green, peaceful gem in the heart of the City.

DEDICATED IN LOVING MEMORY OF CHERESE MARI LAULHERE

In June 2017, we had the honor of dedicating EcoHouse in loving memory of Cherese Mari Laulhere.  Long-time supporters, Chris & Larry Laulhere donated $1.5 million towards the EcoHouse capital campaign in honor of their beloved daughter who tragically lost her life while in India with the Semester at Sea Program on March 27, 1996.  Cherese was just 21 years old.

Through the Cherese Mari Laulhere Foundation they support causes that were near and dear to Cherese.  We are so grateful to be among the many worthy organizations to be touched by Cherese and are proud to have her name on this building.

THANK YOU TO OUR CAPITAL CAMPAIGN SUPPORTERS

Dozens of other very generous individuals, foundations, and organizations have donated to the EcoHouse Capital Campaign and have made our years-long dream into a stunning reality.  We are so grateful for your support!
